ICTA strong network is the base for everything else
Cameras, phones, laptops, access control and smart devices all depend on the network. A tidy, well planned network is faster and easier to fix.
We design the cabling, Wi-Fi and equipment together so they work as one system.
- Planned cable routes and labelled ports
- Wi-Fi placed for coverage, not just for show
- Neat racks and documented layout
What our ICT team delivers
Practical network and communication work.
Structured cabling
Tested, labelled cabling with patch panels and wall points, so every port is easy to trace.
Local networks (LAN)
Routers and switches set up so devices connect quickly and reliably.
Wi-Fi design
Access points placed for even coverage and enough capacity for your users.
Internet connectivity
Setup of your internet link, with options for backup connections.
Communications systems
IP phones, intercoms and other voice systems that run on your network.
Technology integration
CCTV, access control and smart devices connected on one well managed network.
Pick the right cable and Wi-Fi
Simple facts that help you choose well.
Network cable types
The maximum length for a copper network cable run is 100 metres.
| Cable | Typical speed | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cat5e | Up to 1 Gbps | Basic office and home networks with short runs. |
| Cat6 | 1 Gbps, and 10 Gbps over short runs | New installations. A better long-term choice. |
| Fibre optic | Very high speed over long distances | Links between buildings and long runs. |
Wi-Fi bands
Most modern access points use more than one band at the same time.
| Band | Speed | Range |
|---|---|---|
| 2.4 GHz | Slower | Longest range. Goes through walls better. |
| 5 GHz | Faster | Medium range. Best for most devices. |
| 6 GHz (Wi-Fi 6E and newer) | Fastest | Shortest range. Best in open spaces and for heavy users. |

Things people often ask
Why is my Wi-Fi slow in some rooms?
Distance, thick walls and interference weaken the signal. The best fix is more access points placed well and connected by cable, not only signal extenders.
Should I choose Cat6 or Cat5e?
For new installations we recommend Cat6. It costs a little more but supports higher speeds and is better prepared for the future.
How far can a network cable run?
A copper network cable can run up to 100 metres. For longer distances we use switches along the way or fibre.
Can my network stay on during power cuts?
Yes. Network equipment uses little power, so we connect it to a UPS or your inverter and the internet stays on.
Can you connect my CCTV and smart devices to the network?
Yes. We plan the network so cameras, access control and smart devices share it safely and reliably.
